ABOUT
Mirri is THE LUME Melbourne’s dining space, located within the main gallery. It features a menu curated by renowned chef and Bundjalung man Mark Olive, who brings his global recognition and passion for Indigenous Australian cuisine to this unique collaboration.
Mirri celebrates the vibrant flavours of First Nations produce, blending traditional ingredients with contemporary cooking techniques.
Embedded within the Bundjalung language, the term "mirri" means “to see”. The concept, however, goes beyond mere visual observation; it signifies a spiritual and emotional perception, and the ability to appreciate and connect with the world around us in a deeper way. Mirri invites visitors to foster a deeper connection with First Peoples’ culture through art, music, and food.
A Bundjalung man with over 40 years of culinary expertise, Olive is a natural storyteller with a love of art, music, and people. He’s a passionate advocate for First Nations artists, artisans, and creatives, and draws his inspiration - in the kitchen and beyond - from the Australian land.
Olive’s menu pays homage to the traditions and flavours of the First Peoples, incorporating native herbs and ingredients such as lemon myrtle, river mint, quandong, and saltbush. Please note that the standard menu is not available on Saturdays from 6pm. A Drinks & Snacks menu is available.
Enjoy a three-course dinner for two at an intimate dining table, accompanied by breathtaking visuals and stirring music of Connection.
